Accountability Ratings
In Texas, Accountability Ratings are used to judge the overall performance of each school district, and of individual schools within each district. The ratings are based on the results of the TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) test, dropout rates (for grades 7 and 8) and graduation rates (for grades 9 through 12). The possible ratings are Exemplary, Recognized, Academically Acceptable, or Academically Unacceptable.
The sections below list the overall accountability rating for each district. Click here to research more detailed information plus accountability ratings for individual schools within each district.
Note that individual school ratings within a single district can be quite varied. Also, if a single school within a district is rated as Academically Unacceptable, the district as a whole cannot achieve a rating of Exemplary or Recognized.
